The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell (with Bill Moyers)
This is the transcript of a television media interview between Moyers and Cambell, so it is in a question/answer format. This is a discussion of our human need for myth and story, and Campbell discusses a lot of universal elements of myth.
Why am I reading this? I think this is the perfect companion to Story Genius by Lisa Cron. I also have a major in English literature and this content truly speaks to my soul.

The Heroine’s Journey by Gail Carriger
I came across this title as a plot template in Plottr. I am currently plotting a romantasy, and I think this plot might be a good structure for this story. I want to understand specifically how it differs from the Hero’s Journey.

Seven Figure Fiction by T. Taylor
This short, entertaining, and to-the-point author and editor reference defines a Universal Fantasy versus a trope in telling a story. Taylor also uses several examples from popular movies to illustrate this definition.
Adding fantasy (rather than just trope) to the stories you are writing/editing, and then use those fantasies in your marketing to SELL your book to readers who are craving them. This is a short read and you can probably get through it in one or two days.
